Traveling Made Easy with Adventures in Odyssey!

Every road trip we takes starts out about the same. We pile in, pray for our trip, and turn on Adventures in Odyssey! We used to travel with our entire case of every Adventures in Odyssey set, but now with the Adventures in Odyssey Club we will usually load on several episodes and listen that way. It’s also nice at bedtime when we are away. The girls are always excited and sometimes have a hard time settling in to sleep. Not to mention the grown ups stay up late playing games, which aren’t always so quiet! This helps them not mind going to bed before the rest of us do.

On this trip we were very excited to get to hear the beginning of the newly released episodes! We left on a Thursday and returned on a Thursday which is release day for the newest episodes. If you haven’t had a chance to try out the club this is a great time because you will get to hear the newest episodes before anyone else!
Even when the girls fall asleep (2 out of three here!) my husband and I still enjoy listening to Adventures in Odyssey. It’s a great way to be entertained and we didn’t even bring a DVD player for the 13 hour drive this time! Our favorites are the sagas… Novacom, Dr. Blackguard, The Green Ring Conspiracy, etc. This time we were listening to the Blackguard episodes. So fun every time!
What is your favorite Adventures in Odyssey for a road trip?

Plus Bring Your Bible to School Comes to Adventures in Odyssey

sept-oac-art-250x250

Getting used to a new school isn’t easy, especially for someone as paranoid as Buddy Norman. In “A Predicament of Biblical Proportions” he envisions wacky worst-case encounters with townsfolk who seem like mobsters, snoops and fairy-tale tyrants—until he gets to know them. He’s also a little confused about Bring Your Bible to School Day. What’s it about? Should he participate? See Odyssey through Buddy’s eyes in this witty celebration of religious freedom.

Listen to this story through a two-week trial only on the Odyssey Adventure Club.

FREE 14 Day Trial Is Now Available for the Odyssey Adventure Club!

Don’t miss this awesome chance to try out the Odyssey Adventure Club! We log into the club several times a day to listen to episodes. We love having easy access to any episode at anytime! While we own almost all of the CD sets (we are just missing a few new ones) having unlimited access to every episode of Adventures in Odyssey has us completely spoiled! We love having all of the cartoons available and all of the Last Chance Detectives series!

One of the really neat benefits is that all three girls can listen to different episodes at once if they like on their own tablets. Every afternoon my girls have quiet alone time in separate rooms. They are required to read at least 2 chapters of a book and then may color, craft, draw, or play quietly. Most of the time they ask me to log in to the Adventure Club on their tablets and listen to episodes while they have their alone time. They love the freedom to pick and choose and even search for their favorite episodes.

Now YOUR have the chance to try out the Adventure Club for 2 Full Weeks for free!

The Problem

Nearly 7,000 miles away from the United States, there’s a war going on in the country of Syria. Many families have been forced from their homes. Parents have had to leave their jobs, and children have had to leave behind toys and friends.

Many of these families now live in refugee camps in nearby countries. They have tents instead of houses. Clean water is hard to come by. This war has put 2.6 million children out of school – some for more than four years already.

The Solution

Our friends at Focus on the Family Middle East know many families who don’t have the money to buy a school uniform and pay for their children to go to school. They also know people who would love to teach children English in local churches.

You may not have a lot of money to help, but you probably have time, energy and excitement. Here’s what you can do:

1. Go to to Whitsend.org/summer.
2. Print a sponsor sheet and exercise to earn points. You can do it for a week or the whole summer – just remember, the more you exercise, the more points you’ll earn!
3. Ask your family and friends to sponsor your efforts.
4. Beginning in July, tell us how you did and receive a digital bundle from your friends at Adventures in Odyssey and Focus on the Family. The deadline to submit your information is August 31, 2016.

For participating and submitting your information, you will get a free Adventures in Odyssey episode from Album 51. You will also get 101 Surefire Ways to Strengthen Your Child’s Faith – eBook and the audio book of Imagination Station #1, “Voyage with the Vikings.” Make the most of your summer—exercise for your health and help other kids in need while you do!

A Meaningful Advent with Adventures in Odyssey

OAC Christmas

When I was a kid I loved opening the little windows in our Advent calendars. It was exciting and special and something I looked forward to each year. We enjoy the same tradition with our three girls and this year have added a fun twist on our usual time together!

Adventures in Odyssey has put together an Advent Activity book and CD set! This set will give your family 25 Christmas episodes to enjoy throughout the Advent season as well as activities for you to do as a family. Each also includes a Scripture passage and something to discuss after listening to the episodes.

My girls look forward to each day we do this. We are just using the devotional booklet because we can find all of the episodes on the Odyssey Adventure Club. Sometimes we listen and do the activities in the evenings, and sometimes at lunch depending on the day’s schedule. We also change up whether we listen first or work the activity based on what it all involves.
P1050063P1050062P1050061
Last night we listened to the episode Peace on Earth. While they were listening they drew a tree out of their hand print. The leaves were made from tracing their finger prints. It was a good reminder that we are all uniquely created by God to serve Him. Including the episode and the activity, this is about 30 minutes of quality family time together. We are huge fans of the show already, so this is a neat way to incorporate a new tradition into Advent.

This is Beth’s (8-years-old) hand-print tree. She actually used her finger prints to make fruit on it instead of the leaves and I love her creativity!
If you’ve never experienced Adventure in Odyssey you should give the OAC a try. It is quality entertainment and fun for everyone in your family!

Give the Gift that Lasts All Year with OAC!

What’s on your children’s Christmas wish list? As excited as they might be about that new toy, as every parent knows, the thrill of the gift will eventually wear off. Focus on the Family and Adventures in Odyssey have created the perfect gift for those who want to give their children or grandchildren a present that will provide year-round fun with eternal impact.

The Odyssey Adventure Club (OAC) offers families 24/7 access to 25 years’ worth of Adventures in Odyssey (AIO) episodes in a safe online environment where children can explore and learn. Christmas really is the perfect time to tap into your children’s imagination while infusing faith and fun into their day . . . and every day of the year.

To celebrate the holidays this year, the OAC is offering free content for everyone, including an Advent calendar, a broadcast download with tips to create a memorable Christmas, AIO cutouts and Christmas stocking stuffer cards. Membership to the OAC costs just $9.99 a month — or even less if parents make a six-month or one-year commitment. Enrollment provides more than enough content to keep kids engaged throughout the year:

  • Access to exclusive content and first looks at books and select Radio Theatre dramas.

  • A subscription to Adventures in Odyssey Clubhouse Magazine, and more.

In keeping with AIO’s rich heritage of teaching children about biblical principles — such as the importance of giving — a portion of each OAC membership benefits Focus on the Family partner organizations. Here are a couple of examples of what has been accomplished through Odyssey Adventure Club members:

The Odyssey Adventure Club wants to reach beyond fleeting entertainment this Christmas, partnering with parents in helping their kids grow deep in faith and find their place in God’s story.

Celebrate the Whit Award with Adventures in Odyssey!

15-FOTF-0297-482513_PM_AIO_Whitaker_Award_Web_Ads_Disk_506x253

Most people can think of one or two figures whose love and life example had a great impact on the formation of their spiritual foundation. It might be a coach, a Sunday school teacher or a parent or grandparent. Whatever the role, it’s hard to put a value on the investment these people make on a daily basis. In an effort to bring honor to these countless, quiet heroes, Adventures in Odyssey announces the John Avery Whitaker Award. Named after Odyssey’s resident leader and the namesake of Odyssey’s most famous attraction, Whit’s End, the award will be bestowed annually on one deserving mentor.

Like the Adventures in Odyssey character John Avery Whitaker, or “Whit” as he’s known by fans of the show, the person should be someone who is passionate about innovatively teaching children the truths expressed in the Bible. Those who create Adventures in Odyssey know that while Whit might be a fictitious character, there are thousands of real people just like him. “Our hope is that by bringing those people into the light, others will be inspired to follow their example,” says Dave Arnold, the executive producer of Adventures in Odyssey. “If we can spur mature believers in Christ to mentor and influence a generation being barraged with messages of compromise, we can turn the tide and encourage revival in our youth.”

Nominations are being accepted now through October 31 for the “Whits” out there in the world. Beginning on November 1, one nominee will be selected daily and awarded with a prize package including Adventures in Odyssey’s latest album, Taking the Plunge, and a DVD of the movie Beyond the Mask. One grand prize winner will be chosen and announced on November 20. This worthy recipient will receive more than $500 worth of Focus on the Family resources, including an Odyssey Adventure Club (OAC) membership. The OAC offers 24/7, on-the-go access to more than 800 episodes of Adventures in Odyssey, as well as a new, members-only episode every month. It is a safe, fun environment where the whole family can explore, create and imagine, all while learning biblical truth.

Nominations can be submitted via this form, or the information can be emailed to contest@whitsend.org. (See the Official Rules for all the details.)
